How can we teach people the value of good manners and encourage them to be civil?

"Civility in America has been declining rapidly in recent years because of the change culture where verbal assaults are fired freely across the internet and TV. More and more we became obsessed with “I,” with “me”  than “us.”

To survive, a society needs an amount of goodwill—people willing to treat others with respect and to give of themselves to the community. Civility is the lifeblood of a society. We need to bring civility back before it get worse, so I created my own civility manifesto to influence the people visually in positive direction. The book is filled with bold statements that a politician communicate verbally. Each statement is impacted with scale and heavy weight to boost your positivity and persuade you to lead with honest and respect.”

How can we help people learn about food waste and get them involved in green activities?

"Making a new product requires a lot of the materials and energy. Every year, Americans throw away 50 billion food in the trash. Around 85% of our garbage is sent to a dump, or landfill, where it can take from 100–400 years to decompose.

I designed an environmentally conscious web and print publication that focus on different uses of food scraps. Instead of disposing the scraps away, why not try to find ways to reuse them. I want to educate  people to cut down the amount of waste we produce and stimulate their creativity through instructional projects that they can do with disposable objects. Many food scraps can be re-purpose into something completely different and useful for yourself and the environment itself.”

How can we raise awareness of the global water crisis and educate about saving it?

"As Earth's population continues to grow, people are putting a great amount of pressure on the planet's water resources. However, our water quality has been reduced from human activities. Every year, more people die from unsafe water than from all forms of violence and war. Water pollution crisis continue to rise and killed hundreds of sea animals.

Our rivers, lakes and coastal waters cannot handle whatever we take out or dump in. These water need protection. Water is valuable, yet it is a limited resource. By educating individuals and families, we can promote awareness and encourage everyone to protect our water supply for future generations. With the card set, booklet and website, it can grasp people's attention about ensuring and providing a safe and sufficient water supply system.”

How can we save money in the city without paying someone else to do the work?

Have you notice the price of things? The city's crazy high cost of living starts with it's crazy hot housing market. Affordable hosuing is hard to come by in the city. Existing home sales prices increased nearly 36% in just two years. Also, owning a car can be an expensive proposition. The cost of food and grocery in the city isn't cheap; it is  23% higher than national average.

Getting a haircut, taking the dog to the vet or buying household essentials cost money, is it possible to use your skills as a trade? Therefore, I designed a trading app where it doesn't involved money. It's about saving money and exchanging your knowledges with your friends without the use of money. You can browse your friends' offer and accept the offer if you're interested in it. All skills are possible. Save your money.”

How can we help people recognize Dr. Bronner's philosophy on his soap labels?

"Emanuel H. Bronner was born to a family of soap makers in Germany in  1908.  Dr. Bronner  pleaded with his family to leave Germany and come to America but he could not convince them and they stayed.  He later received a postcard from his father simply saying “You were right—your loving father” and never heard from them again. They perished in the Holocaust.

Dr. Bronner became more zealous and vocal about his religious philosophy that he called the All-One-God-Faith. When you look at a bottle of Dr.Bronner's castile soap, you notice the label is full of tiny words and quotes about needing the world to unite before it destroys itself. I redesigned the label and created a typographic system, so people can recognize and read his philosophy on the labels of each bottle.”

How can we help women in India recognize Bikxie, a taxi service for women's safety?

"Bikxie is a scooter taxi app-based service that launched its services in Gurgaon, India on January 1, 2016. Gurgaon is home to offices of some of the world’s biggest companies (HCL technologies, Tata Steel, etc), but it’s especially hard for women since Gurgaon is located in Haryana, one of Indian’s most patriarchal states and the highest crime rates against women.

I rebranded and created a modern and unique, yet a bold brand for Bikxie toward women. Also, to make the brand more recognizable and help strengthen the idea that its brand is for women, by women. It’s the country’s first bike taxi for women by women. This taxi service is not only to change the way women commute, but it creates a job opportunity for women and empowers them to be equal to men.”

"Field is an Ethos' private brand of home gardening supplies from seeds to tools. It

We choose to focus on creating small changes to make all our packaging more environmentally friendly and making a difference in this world. The choice and use of  packaging materials are carefully considered. We were inspired by origami and idea of reuse for packaging design.

How can we as a group create an identity for a store brand and two private brands?

"Creating a retail store that competes with Williams Sonoma, Crate & Barrel and Restoration Hardware and specializes in products for any home. In a group, we designed a package for each category by creating a main store and private brands.

Ethos have three categories: Live, Prep and Essentials. Ethos Live is the core of the store striving to make good contemporary design available through a selection of timeless and functional products. Ethos Prep is a brand of high quality tableware products, that is responsible during the production and environmentally conscious. How can we help and strengthen an existing wine company in Sonoma County?

David Homewood started as a home wine maker in 1983 when he and two friends produced the wine from a ton of Alexander Valley cabernet sauvignon. Homewood winery was bonded in 1988, with an initial case production of about 500 cases.

All of the grapes are purchased from growers, so David can choose grapes from appellations where they do best. All of my reds are handcrafted, bottled unfiltered and unfined because every time you try to remove something you always take out other things out as well. I designed two of $16 wine bottle, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, and one of the expensive wine bottle, Cabernet Sauvignon. Because David harvest his wine by himself, the use of drawing and portrait of him created a homey and handcrafted environment.”

How can we reuse light bulb boxes and upcycle them into simple and fun home decor?

"Lighting Ever focus on creating the best lighting and life experience for the people. However, their packaging materials are not sustainable or green. Therefore, LE has been rebranded, to promote itself as a creative and green company for a better life.

I designed a pendant light box that can be reuse as a home decor from the original box. Each light bulb packaging comes with a vibrant interior to represent the bulb color and make your home lively. Not only can it be used as a lamp shade, you can flip it inside out to use it as another lamp decor. With the idea of sustainability and reuse, LE can reduce their negative impact on the environment and society through their choice of their materials and sourcing. This way, it can reduce the amount of waste and strain on the natural resources.”
